Wellll, a little bit of this and a little bit of that.
Who would've thunk that we had 90% of what we needed to build an Elephant hanging around the house. My friend brought over some left over drywall and newspapers - the only thing that we have had to buy that is pictured was the masking tape.
We are following this tutorial:
http://ultimatepapermache.com/paper-mache-tutorial/elephant-sculpture-videobut instead of MDF we used drywall. And for the tail, ears, tusks and trunk we used a combination of hardware cloth and coat hangers.
We are going to do the paper mache clay that she has a recipe for - and for that we had to buy the joint compound, glue and linseed oil. You will note that our elephant is an adult, not a baby, and there are a couple of blocks in the middle of his back.
The blocks on his back are the anchor point for a platform. On the platform I will be building a howda made out of Sugar Plate. He will also be extensively decorated with jewelry and hanging cloth also made out of sugar.
