I know my Maple Leafs suck. It's no surprise we suck. But talk to me in 3 years when Hagman is at the end of his contract and our boys we already got (Schenn, Kulemin, Hayes, Porno Boy and Pogge {Rask is still the better prospect}) are solid. I am assuming of course that Burke is bringing some guys that will have more impact on the ice than Brad May (WTF? Interim Captain? WTF?)

The Sharks have their work cut out (Joe Thornton is gonna need to put the team on his shoulders for the last two rounds of the playoffs) for them making it past the second round this year, the West is stacked like usual. Detroit, Calgary, and Chi-town are going to make it spicy, I'm not convinced the Stars have recovered from Sean Avery yet until they put together a pair of solid roadtrips. If Sundin ever figures out what he's really supposed to be doing on the ice, the Canucks are going to be deadly offensively with a goalie good enough to cover the ineptitude of the D. Minnesota is my wild card but without Gaborik I don't see them mounting the offence they need despite their league leading defence.

The East is still pretty even. What the hell happened in Ottawa though? I already knew that the Isles were managed like poop (Garth Snow fer fraks sakes) but Bryan Murray is going to be looking for a new job at the end of the year. At the trade deadline if Melnyk knew what he was doing. But he don't! Florida is the surprise this year, I'm kinda hoping that they'll get a couple of rounds into the playoffs so that the hockey bug infests the area a little stronger. I swear tho that most their season ticket holders die off at a pretty steady pace. AO is still my favourite player and the Caps is dangerous. Boston has decent odds of going to the Finals so long as Chara stays healthy. Jersey is only going to get better once Brodeur gets back, and that's going to be ridiculous. Brent Sutter is the motherfuckin' man. Montreal, for some reason seems to be having a crisis along with the Rangers and Philly just doesn't seem to have the scoring. Pittsburgh has two problems. Sidney Crosby is a frakin pansy, and Malkin doesn't know enough English to lead the room. Seen Tavares?

I've wondered that before too. I figure because players would tell people "Yeah I'm a Maple Leave" and that would sound... weird.

A Canadian film crew was in San Jose covering the Heatley trade. One of the journalists suggested that he chose to go to California because there wasn't as much attention from the fans and therefore not as much pressure to perform well. :nonplused:

That's some kind of record for insulting everyone at once. Good thing he was talking to Thornton at the time, I think Heatley might not have taken it very well :galm:

Heatley is a bag of shit. He goes high in the draft, he murders a teammate, he underperforms in Ottawa (arguably a good thing for Leafs fans) and he requests a trade when they pare back his responsibilities. I think it's fair to assume he wants to go to a town where hockey isn't as big a culture as it is in Ontario. He was under the media spotlight 24 hrs a day here. He won't get that coverage on the sunny left coast.

The new US ambassador to Canada just addressed the media after being received by the Governor General. He was asked general questions about border security, Buy America provisions, Afghanistan - and whether or not he's a hockey fan. hahaha
