OK, yesterday I saw someone who had an iPad and a REALLY good use for it. Frankly, a netbook could do the same thing as well or better, but it wouldn't be as impressive.
My friend who's an interior designer is who. The what: She goes to someone's house for a consultation. She takes photos (with her phone, alas, as the iPad has no camera) and transfers them to the iPad. Then she has software that lets her make design and decorating changes drawn on top of the actual photos. So she can sit there with the customer and, right in front of them, say This is how it would look blue. This is how it would look gray. This is what it would look like with venetian plaster and roman shades. This is how it would look with soapstone vs travertine. This is how it would look with the fancy wallpaper.
OK, that is seriously slick. It's not the perfect hardware, but she apparently tried doing something similar with a portable LED projector setup, but of course the colors don't always come out right, and there were whatever other problems, too. And, I mean, the iPad is just going to be a sexier tool for it, in terms of impressing customers, because it's more 'magical'.
