Crockpot Roulette

It's going to be soy sauce based, and then I want a sweetener and something to spice it up a bit.
It's symbolic of our struggle against reality.

OK, that's kinda wild. I am the 2nd voter and I voted for exactly what whomever the 1st voter was.

Creepy. Who has already voted, because we are like psychic and stuff.

I would also add some fresh ginger to the soy, honey, garlic combo. And maybe some sesame oil (a wee bit) and some onions.

What vox said, though I'd also throw some mustard in there because pork+mustard == win. Although, can you get Chinese restaurant mustard? That stuff has zing.

I was the first voter and you are freaking me out cause I also thought of ginger and sesame oil. No onions though.  I was thinking carrots.
I need this done ASAP, or whenever you can get around to it.  Tomorrow is fine.

chinese restaurant mustard is just coleman's mustard powder and water. you need to let it sit for a couple of hours to truly make it right. some people put a dash of white vinegar in it. when i worked in a korean restaurant we made it in 5 gal. buckets. fun.

Um. What kind of syrup?

There is a wrong answer.  :harumph:

Yeah, I wondered about "syrup" but voted for it because I like maple syrup with other pig products but reserve honey for chicken.

Otherwise, I voted for mustard and garlic and a little soy sauce.  But I'm always weird about food.

Seconded.  Even I eat pork strips with Chinese mustard sauce.

I usually like pork chops just salty and crispy, though.

I like chops buried under a mountain of extra tart kraut and with a dollop of yellow mustard.  Monk likes them grilled and seasoned at the last second in maple syrup and bacon salt.

Ancho chili powder, cumin, garlic, tequila, onions, cayenne pepper, and kosher salt.  Keep on warm for around 20-25 hours.

 :hmm: Interesting.

I need to start cooking them this morning, so it looks like the winner is soy sauce, honey, garlic and mustard. I do have some Chinese mustard, but I need to check the date on it. I don't have any ginger or sesame oil. I don't have any apples, but I like the sound of the apple jalapenos  combo. I may have to try that in a future batch.  :flipper: recipe sounds intriguing too, another future batch.

Nobody chose dr. pepper

Turns out I did have some ginger after all, so I threw a dash of that in there. There was no date on the mustard, so I was in luck  :P It had never been opened, so it's probably good. I have no idea when I bought it.

The sauce smelled good, and the mustard gave it a little twang. I hope it doesn't end up tasting like plain old teriyaki. I'll find out tonight.
