Yeah, I mean I'm honestly pretty happy about it. I'm a little concerned financially, obviously, but I'm in a WAY better place than I was last time I was unemployed. I got out of debt and saved some, so I'm not on the street yet, but I know those touch holes will fight my unemployment.
My best friend at work was canned a few weeks ago. He's a quiet, introverted tech type (shocker, I know). I mention that because he's easy to intimidate and they took full advantage of that. They fired him for not returning a call on a weekend when he wasn't even on call. Then told him he couldn't tell anyone he was fired and if he said anything bad about Edcomm, they'd "make his life a living hell" (I can quote that because he has the whole meeting recorded). They said if he cooperated, they would give him a glowing recommendation and wouldn't fight his unemployment. Well, he didn't say shit (it took a lot for me to get the truth out of him) and they still screwed him. Contested his filing by saying he was fired for willful misconduct.
That was about the time I gave up on looking to the law for justice with these people.
The funny thing is that they are so fucking stupid they don't even realize any one of the tech guys they've fired could bring the company down. Literally halt its entire operation within a couple minutes (and that's just the technical approaches). I'm not going to do anything drastic unless I need to, but you guys know I don't take kindly to bullying. I'm more than willing to play a few rounds of Who's Got More To Lose with them. I'm that asshole that will spend $10k to get the $1k you owe me.
edit - I hope I got to the ' in its before Tal read this!
