I really haven't heard enough details yet to make a guess.

I think they're solving the wrong problem. They're creating an alternative to Facebook, but I think the problem isn't that Facebook is mucking around trying to make money, but rather that social networking encourages dumb behaviors.

And what about this Google Fbook-killer, eh?

Actually, I haven't heard enough specifics about that to have any clue, either.  Truth is, if it's not too obnoxious, I'll go wherever the early adopters among my friends go, because that's where my friends will end up.

I would agree that if the people I am friends with don't move there, there is no point in me going there.  That's the whole point of a social network, everybody's got to be there, otherwise it's just me moving blocks, grouping jewels and killing people all by myself.  Well, I guess I could go hang out at my farm with the cows and chickens and stuff.
I need this done ASAP, or whenever you can get around to it.  Tomorrow is fine.

People at Fark were immediately all CALL ME WHEN IT HAS 300 MILLION USERS.

That doesn't even make sense.  WTF does that matter unless you're an advertiser?

Right, just like the would-be Friendster and Myspace killers of the past. It's like, do I really want to be using AIM in the 21st century? No, but if I wanna communicate and trade music with other producers, that's what they're all using.

Predicting the mass movements of internet people has never been an exact science tho, has it? Oh, we're moving to Digg; oh, now Digg sucks, we're moving to Reddit...etcetc

Fark has external content.  Facebook is a potluck dinner; Fark is a buffet.  When a social network sucks, everybody brings potato salad again and again and again, and you get sick of it.  The pizza buffet doesn't need a whole lot of variety, just to keep the food coming.
