I had this song going through my head all last week on a bike trip. Relentlessly, esp. the chorus and the 12-string. Hollies cover (Chip Taylor, no relation).

Kind of a good earwrom...wish there were a suitable eyecandy video to accompany it... :knotty: she was cute...

Linda Ronstadt - I can't let go

Earworm of unknown origin: Back Off Boogaloo - Ringo Starr

How did this get in my head? Is it being used in a commercial or something?
It's symbolic of our struggle against reality.

Last night, all night, stuck in my head:

God sends His spaceships to America, the Beautiful.
They land at six o'clock, and there we are, the dutiful,
Eating from TV trays, tuned in to
Happy Days,
Waiting for World War II while Jesus slaves
To the mating calls of lawyers in love.

Over and over and over and over . . . .

Today, it's been a solid rotation of the main theme from Jurassic Park.

Oh.  Two days ago, at the hardware store, the muzak-sideband-radio-PA-thin played a song apparently called "Ordinary People" by someone apparently called John Legend.  And if I ever hear that song again, I will have to go find him and beat him with a frozen roadkill possum until his retinas detach.  It is my new most-hated song of all time.  I cannot remember the last time I heard something that bad, and I am including all sounds of all kinds.  I very nearly dropped my stuff and left the store without buying anything just to escape.

Fortunately, the next thing they played was Pretty Ballerina by The Left Banke, which was a major improvement.  But, then, six blaring rickrolls in a row would've been a blessed relief, by comparison.

edit:  No, I don't know why I sometimes put song titles in quotes and sometimes in italics.  My style sheet is still in flux.

Hearing Pretty Ballerina in a hardware store is exactly the kind of juxtaposition I can get behind.

Maybe you would have preferred Pulp's "Common People" as covered by Ben Folds and William Fucking Shatner.

Thing I didn't expect to hear today:

Unit 3 and a female friend trying to work out the harmonies in the chorus of "Sullivan Street" while I was picking him up from rehearsal.

Did. Not. Expect. That. At. All. Evar.

Weird kid. :hmm: My kid. Yeah. That makes sense. :detta:

Oh man, the girls are going to be throwing their panties at him in a couple of years. Whaaaaat am I gonna doooooo?!?! :galm:

First thing to do is decide the primary sorting criteria, be it date & time, type, color ...

What?

I remember reading an interview with Adam Duritz around that time where he said that no matter what happened from there on out, they wanted to make sure that at least they had done that One Classic Album...

Damned if they didn't, too. I mean they had their moments at other times, but wow that whole thing sounds really good to this day (my earlier Four Stages Theory notwithstanding)

Yeah good thing I never had that problem either.

Bringing it back, with a twist.

I've had this song in my head for weeks now.  Not the words (I can't tell what he's singing most of the time) but the really loose guitar sound and the chorus.

Stones - Soul Survivor

I'm so glad it's not . . . that other one.
