This reanimated pig brain story is intriguing. Good fodder for a horror movie, at least, or a conversation on religion and afterlife.

Surely memory is wiped in seconds after... disconnection. That's not to say it would be impossible to create a fast enough transition to life support, but to what end?

It's symbolic of our struggle against reality.

Honestly, I'm so busy wondering if I can that I don't stop to wonder if I should, only to wonder if I can also make a zap gun big enough to vaporize a sufficient ratio of dinosaurs.

The real trick is scheduling this stuff in the right order.

We just moved into our temporary digs here in Florida and Rog is still in GA.

I was unpacking boxes and stuff and I literally said "Elliott, please set up my computer."

He came to get me when he got to the point that he needed my password to get to the desktop. Everything works perfectly.

I woudn't have had clue one where to even start.

For those keeping score, he's 11.

Ouch.

I just took him to buy some sandals yesterday (now that we live in FL). Because I preferred to have a pair of shoes that might actually last more than 3 months size wise we ended up buying him size 10 in mens.

Mine is also 11 going into middle school next year.  He has a couple inches on E and about 30 pounds.

If you haven't tried the Google Maps satellite view recently, I encourage you to give it a look.  They've replaced / 'enhanced' much of the actual photo view with CGI, especially of vegetation, and the 3D view is partly real and partly based on AI guesses about how things look.

Its interface behavior is kind of amusingly / maddeningly strange, too, but the overall weirdness of it is diverting.  I'm not ready to say that it's somehow an improvement, but it's got a certain bananashit charm.

At first glance it looked the same as it has for a while, but it has definitely been enhanced. I'm not so sure that's so much CGI as it is some compression / sharpen / averaging filter thingee. Cell phone cameras have a lot of this type stuff built in, but not to this degree, no where near this degree.

I don't think it's guessing at missing imagery much, if any. Trees change, obviously, and what you're seeing is a combination of pictures of the same tree taken at different times, sometime with leaves, sometimes without, for example. It used to guess, but this is different now.

If you look at this intermodal container shipyard and pick out a certain area and rotate around it, some of the containers will be there in one angle and not be there in another as the come and go over time. Sometimes they are partly there and partly not, kind of translucent. It's pretty fascinating to look at. It's a bit slow to render though. I wonder if that is my computer, my connection or the server. It would be a lot more fun to explore if it wasn't so slow.

The new Mercedes Benz stadium in Atlanta. That stadium next to it is gone now, demolished in November 2017. You can see that this is photographic, not AI CGI.

I think this is where the imagery is coming from. Hmof could probably tells us more.

Meanwhile, Bing, I dunno what the hell they are doing. They used to have the lead with their Bird's Eye view, then they deleted all the imagery "because it was out of date". They are supposedly rebuilding their image library, but at the rate they're going, their images will again be obsolete way before they finish, if they ever finish. The new images are clearer, but lack the versatility of the Google 3D.
