Because I get the impression that Peter Buck would have never stumbled upon the idea himself.

And besides, great artists steal... ;)

No, there isn't a video I can show you for demonstration. The funny thing about Replacements videos in the 1980s was that they eschewed the style and the two music videos of theirs I can think of are in black and white and feature just stereo speakers. With fancy camera angles...

Right, there were no videos whatsoever made for the "Let It Be" album (a personal fave) or any of their releases before that.

They do have the "Bastards of Young" vid you mentioned though. That was before they got all mellow and shit. Gotta give it up for Westerberg though; he's a motherfucker of a songwriter, in any era one cares to name.

If it's any consolation, I don't begin to understand them

I'd suggest getting to know some REM if ya don't, especially their early murky-vox-vs-jangly-Rickenbacker type stuff.

I'm not sure what's funniest about this vid, though the Hitler mustache at the end is probably it.

I saw this dude picking the banjo at the Grand 0le opery when I kid. When he came out on stage with those iddy biddy pants and cowboy boots, i almost fell out of my chair laughing at him. That was probably one of the best days of my life. My Dad took me back stage and introduced me to a bunch of opery stars!...I was 13 years old...

I overslept this morning.  I was hitting the snooze button like it was my little sister.

I thought of Axe when I saw this. It even sounds like it might have a hole in the exhaust.

Heh heh.  I've seen those before, but only in the ads from the company that sells them.  They make a small size for refitting your ATV and bigger sizes for small cars and big-ass trucks.  I hear they're kind of fragile, but what the hell.  That's got to be mad kinds of fun.

Back when monster truck and tractor pull stuff was cool, they used to have a category for tracked vehicles.  There were a few teams who'd blow a full-size van's engine and put full-length tracks on the van.  The things would stand up on their rear ends on takeoff and slide around turns making a hellacious noise, but they were pretty damned cool.

If you imagine a small bulldozer built for 0-60 in five seconds, it's kind of like that.
