El Caminito del Rey

A few years ago, one of the hot net things was a series of pictures from some place in China that's in the same league . . . but where tourists don't do their own walking.  Instead, each tourist sits in a crappy lawnchair that's strapped to the back of a burly local, who carries them along.

I was very much  :harumph: not in a million, billion years.  Call me when those mountains have eroded flat, and then maybe.

The awesomeness that is Weezer's Pork and Beans.

I can't believe they got the real "Leave Britney Alone" kid.

That is a great video.

I have no trouble what-so-ever believing they got the real "Leave Britney Alone" kid.

I've loved Weezer ever since I first heard these lyrics:

I've got the Dungeon Master's Guide.
I've got a 12-sided die.
I've got Kitty Pryde
And Nightcrawler too
Waiting there for me.
Yes I do, I do.

I've got posters on the wall,
My favorite rock group, KISS.
I've got Ace Frehley.
I've got Peter Criss
Waiting there for me.
Yes I do, I do

[chorus]
In the garage, I feel safe.
No one cares about my ways.
In the garage where I belong.
No one hears me sing this song.
In the garage.

And now I love them even more. *sniff* I love you, Weezer.

And seriously, the scene where the sobbing "leavin britney alone" youtube kid is singing the song into the mic opposite Weezer's lead singer while K-Fed produces them from the booth is @#$#!@$#@ genius!!

It seems I mixed up my chocolate rain 15 mins of fame for my leave britney alone 15 minutes of fame.

It's the chocolate rain dude being mixed by K-Fed.

I just killed any illusion of productivity in our office. I introduced them to the magic and wonderment that is the Chocolate Rain.

Tay Zonday is one of my favorite current artists. It's something different for a change from the boring mainstream stuff lately ("I Kissed a Girl"...is that it? I mean c'mon, summer's coming up). I've even adopted the "move away from the mic to breathe in" vocal technique.

I always think she sounds like Shania Twain.  It's a really bland song.
Cause you're so beautiful
Like a tree
Or a high-class prostitute
You're so beautiful
Mmm, you could be a part-time model
But you'd probably have to keep your normal job

I thought it was a genuinely sweet moment when Rivers hugged him. It wasn't a "thanks, buddy" kind of hug, it seemed genuinely caring -- like he was telling him, "hey, you're a tad screwed up, but I care..."

Weezer is among the most awesome self-aware pomo rock bands of all time.  Maybe the best.  I would vote for them.

I have a strange idea that Seth McFarlane will collaborate with them on the next big Broadway musical.

one of my proteges winning the guitar contest  Memorial weekend.   He's 17 years old.  I'm playing  rhythm for him.

Congrats, Robin. You should be proud.

Indeed.

Hay, did you ever make it up here? I feel like a total choad not seeking you out. It was way out of my hippie budget, and I didn't want to beg my way onto the guest list. Such as it was. In a tiny store like Dusty Strings.

Hope it was worth it.
