The only one I saw (I only watched a few minutes of the game - ie: I saw about 10 commercials) was about guys putting up with their woman's vampire shows so they could have a Dodge. Got any links to the offensive ads? eta: the dodge commercial

I made the mistake of reading some of the comments on that video I gotta wonder if the insults weren't intentional to create controversy. Eh. No doubt, really.

Wow. I have no idea what ad you're talking about, Stoats -- Dove for Men, something, eh? But now I'm curious.
I was talking about the majority of ads in the first half. I noticed they stopped doing that shit for the second half. Interesting.

My friend said the best one she saw was a Subaru one with a golden retriever driving and a black lab as the passenger. I never saw that one so I looked it up on Subaru.com. Funny stuff.

Ignoring the ones where it's Megan Fox and other Go Daddy talking tits-n-holes - the ads were saying, essentially: Any man in a relationshit has been emasculated Women are horrible (say that one out loud like Lewis Black woud. Put your jowls into it. HUHBRBRBRBRBRBRBRBBBB!) (I lol'd at the Twilight ref. - but the irony is that the stupid motherfucker that wrote the ad must have missed out on the fact that fucking S'Meyer wrote a story that pretty much knocks feminism back a couple of centuries.) Women are dumb with the shoppin and they shit out the babbies and nag but that's about all they really contribute. You aren't even a man at all unless you buy the advertiser's product. Ye olde "being called a woman is the worst possible insult" meme. http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,1960734_1960750_1960789,00.htmlBabies have girlfriends and relationship issues? Yeeaah, let's sex up some babies. http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,1960734_1960750_1960796,00.htmlThe full list is here: http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/completelist/0,29569,1960734,00.html That kind of crap is just as bad as saying men are inherently stupid; They scratch and sniff at their balls during their free time and do nothing but create an ass-dent in the couch from sitting there and farting all day long. Also, they're dumpy and smelly and careless. DID WE MENTION THEY'RE DUMB YET? HURRRR DERP DERP DERP. Knuckle draggin and illiterate too. That shit needs to be called on the carpet. Sexism isn't acceptable be it aimed at women OR men.

I got home belatedly so I missed the first 2 quarters of the game, but that "book club" ad and the ad with the baby and his GF were just... stunningly horrible. Though I thought it was awesome that beer was being served at a book club meeting. THAT'S a book club I'd sign up for. I liked the previous eTrade ads with the baby, especially the one with his little Af-Am pal, because the mouth dubbing/CGI was pretty good, and the guy's delivery made them funny. But in the new one(s) the mouth CGI wasn't that great, and rest of it... well wtf? Don't know what to make of the sexism... could it be related to the recession? It seems like a bad idea marketing wise to be insulting and/or stereotyping women for liking to shop, considering the fact that no one actually is shopping right now. It's more likely those commercials will churn up additional discord between men and women, and particularly couples, when they are already stressed about money, rather than getting them to buy the product, which they can't afford right now anyway. And yes, the Green Police ad was probably the best of the ones I saw.

Any man in a relationshit has been emasculated Well, come on -- a man involved with a woman? GAAAAAAY . . . . That shit needs to be called on the carpet. Whether it matches the drapes or not. I think a lot of the sexism right now is probably the same as the Tea Party thing, just a reaction to a more intellectual government, less aggressive national character. You know -- without a grinning jackass to tell us we're the best and everything's awesome all the time, a lot of the country suddenly feels the need for a wider stance and a 'return' to 'traditional values', as they imagine them. I didn't see the ads, though. In fact, I totally forgot the Super Bowl was this past weekend until I got back to this thread this morning.

Wait, the SAINTS won? Even without TV or internet at home at the moment, I'm surprised I haven't heard a single person mention this. Hell, I still managed to at least glance over the news at work every day, and I didn't see any banner headlines or crap. Bizarre.
I did see an 'analysis' of the advertising that said all the non-expressly-religious ads were funny and winners. Oy. A couple of 'experts' specifically singled out the Dove For Men ad, which certainly sounds retarded. Still, I mean . . . Dove For Men is practically Massengill For Men, so I guess I can understand if they went a little testostertastic trying to push it.
I dunno -- for me, personally, the Super Bowl Ads thing jumped the shark (and didn't quite clear it) with that jeans ad where the two unattractive supermodels encounter the herd of bison in the abandoned city. That ad was such a failure that it ruined the whole thing forever. Pretty much ruined football, in fact, and I have to sneer at myself slightly now every time I put on jeans or look at a bison.

*Somebody* had a talk with them over halftime. Brees stopped trying to hand the ball off and started doing what he did best; short, bullet straight passes. Plus, the coach waved a pair of huge ones at the ref who was STANDING RIGHT ON THE LINE when they went for the conversion. I mean, come ON! The ball was well over the plane and into the goal but they put the blind ref on that side? When they overturned the call, that was it for Indy. The interception just sealed the deal.
