RWC 2007
« on: September 07, 2007, 01:04:57 PM »
France v. Argentina kicks off in one hour. Dunno if Setanta Sports is on free preview in the U.S. like it is here - if so you can all watch it live.

So it's only PPV except for today?
Greedy bastards. I'm gonna boycott, just like Reuters.

Splane? On cable TV or 'tarweb? If the latter, linkplzkthx.

Setanta US says they'll only broacast the RWC games live, no replay, so I don't think that's a worthwhile investment, what with the whole time zone thing and all :(

It's live on TV here - channel 429. We get Setanta International here - not Setanta US. And I think they are only playing the games once here. The channel has been free for a month and ends Sept. 9th.

Yeah. Nothing on ours. I can however, pay $10 a pop for individual games and watch them on WMV. :hmm:

Wonder if I should do this tomorrow morning ... no, too painful.

You could also go to a bar with satellite TV.

There are three teams in the area but one is collidge (so only exists half the year) and the others have inexplicably NOT found a sports bar and made it their own so it's not likely there'll be RWC on the tellies. I'll phone round, although I don't think I'll be hanging in a bar at 0900 on a Saturday.

This country SUCKS sometimes. New Zealand? Rugby on TV 24/7 of course.

Aussietorrents.com will probably have the games up on their site within 24 hours.

Oh snap.

I like how the BBC says this:

is a "trip."

I'd just call it a trip, myself, not a "trip." REPORTER BIAS! :galm:

I watched the game live. That play had me yelling at the TV. The Brits were playing dirty the whole game and the American team didn't commit a single dirty foul. Vickery deserves the suspension he will likely get.

Actually - if you believe the refs Paul Emerick did foul Olly Barkley later in the game when he tackled him, lifted him off the ground, spun him upside down and dropped him on his head. I've been dirty-tackled like that several times and it's never been called. Usually match officials are more of the 'holy shit what a fucking rad tackle' variety than the 'tut tut someone could have been hurt' variety.

There were no aggravating factors, however there were several mitigating factors including: the player's good record; the good behaviour of the player and his representatives from USA Rugby at the hearing; and the fact that the player has shown remorse in relation to the incident.

Comma splice, unnecessary use of semicolons, improper necessary participle!  Five-week suspension.

Bitch.

Especially since they immediately used "however" correctly in the next paragraph . . . although the last sentence in that paragraph had another improper necessary adjectival phrase.

What's really bugging me is that "necessary" isn't the right term, but I can't think of the right term.  GRAMMAR BREAKING DOWN.  ABANDON SHIT!  Brain generally going to pieces . . . feh.  And the media ain't helping.
