Sounds like a kickass show man. (I dunno if I've ever heard anybody complain about Iggy's live shows though, unless they were just completely unprepared :) )

OK y'all...with everything going on in the world, things have been pretty serious lately, but I know that there's one question above all others that you have been wondering about for some time, which is: "Hey, the new Avril Lavigne album is out, what does First Post think of it?" Well, I can state at this time that "The Best Damn Thing" is pretty damn good. I want to kinda live with these songs for a bit before I really do the kind of detailed breakdown this album deserves, but I hope that this brief statement will at least quell some global tension until then...

It really is just me and the rappers.

Snoop was talking about his next album, and how it was going to be more introspective and just be him on vocals, no "featuring" ten zillion artists on all the tracks like he usually does (as it is with most hip hop releases). He truly wants to do something special this time around, something more personal and  lasting and real.

He said he decided to do it this way after hearing the Amy Winehouse "Back to Black" album. (Sorta like when Brian Wilson first heard "Sgt. Pepper"...)

Jay-Z wants in too. He's reportedly doing his own remix of "Rehab" with new lyrics. (This in addition to Ghostface doing something similar with "You Know I'm No Good"; not only did he do a guest-rapper added verse remix, he also completely redid his own hip hop version, keeping her original chorus)

Also: Avril's LP is #1 right now, woohoo.

I know that there's one question above all others that you have been wondering about for some time, which is: "Hey, the new Avril Lavigne album is out, what does First Post think of it?"

You know, you were correct. This is exactly what I thought.

Wait: I thought Sgt. Pepper came after Paul and John got stoned and listened to "Pet Sounds" ...

I can't stop listening to this song. It's haunting and beautiful and plaintive. I heard it once on radioparadise, and immediately had to go find it. And the video kicks ass. I had to add it to my blog ;)

I watched the trailer for The Golden Compass (due to somebody on LJ) and listening to the music, I had to look. No, the composer for The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is different.

But what seems to be a main theme is really damned close in the two, even if LWW does resolve the descent portion differently.

That is cool, suitep. The video is a trip.

While on dialup I have to wait til the whole Youtube vid downloads via Keepvid, so it takes a while. Plus I was trying to get the new Rush album for my drummer because as a Neil disciple I know he would sqee when he saw it (he did). That took forever, though.

It's a great album, however...definitely a return to form for Rush. There's some old school Rush sounding stuff, some bluesy riffs that recalls even older school Rush sounding stuff, three instrumentals, lots of "WTF is going on with the world" lyrical goodness from Neil in addition to his kickass drumming...this is an interesting enough release to draw interest from outside the usual Rush hardcore contingent, I think. Thumbs up.

I'm really anticipating the Golden Compass movie, as those books (His Dark Materials) are some of the best fiction fantasy type work I've read in a while. Nicole Kidman as Mrs. Coulter was a good choice. It'll either pass through relatively unnoticed, or be the subject of some huge religious controversy. These days it seems especially hard to tell.

(I played "Ghost Town" last year when I DJed at MLS Cup and some guy bought me a beer)

Last night in B&N, they were playing Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights covered by two women singing it in a torch style. Magpy liked it. I was too weirded out to have an opinion. Grandma couldn't hear it (she forgot her hearing aids).

Gone, Gone, Gone by John Ralston
http://www.john-ralston.com/index.php

Lately youíve been acting in a role thatís unbecoming
Of the girl who taught me there was so much in this world worth living.
The part that youíve been playing has me dazed and missing you.
But now youíre gone, gone, gone.

The promise never harvested in fallow fields shall lie.
In a shallow grave of stubble field and half-remembered lies.
A burning heart deceived me and you really put me on,
But now youíre gone, gone, gone.

The memories are bittersweet;
The taste you leave is still stuck in my mouth.
I want to touch you, want to breathe you,
Say, "Fuck you I donít need you - get out...right now."

We were strangers when we met
And we were strangers when you left
Into a shadow world of painted girls and marionettes.
Used to pride myself on living a life without any regrets,
But now thatís gone, gone, gone.

How can such sweet kisses come from such a poison tongue?
How can a bed of roses hurt so much to lie upon?
It was the thorn beneath the flower that I wasnít counting on.
And now youíre gone, gone, gone.

The memories are bittersweet;
The taste you leave is still stuck in my mouth.
I want to touch you, want to breathe you,
Say, "Fuck you I donít need you - get out...right now."

The cityís not the same,
But all the streets they know your name.
They ask me all about you, but my answers pull up lame.
Iím staggering in last nightís clothes and itís starting to rain.
And you are gone, gone, gone.

If parted by a river that was running deep and wide,
Iíd build a boat to get to you or else Iíd drink it dry.
Could fill it back up right now as the tears fall from my eyes.
And you are gone, gone, gone.

The memories are bittersweet;
The taste you leave is still stuck in my mouth.
I want to touch you, want to breathe you,
Say, "Fuck you I donít need you - get out...right now."

Babe if we should meet again way on down the road.
Do me this one favor and pretend we never knowed.
Iíll say that you remind me of a girl I knew so long ago,
But now sheís gone, gone, gone.
i bet you taste like disappointment  -pdrake

Barry Goudreau. You know, the other guitar in Boston. He looks just like Donald freaking "Buck Dharma" Roeser from B÷C.

Ever see them together? No?
AHAHA!

Wow.
